Salary: £21 p/h
Days: Fridays 2.30pm-5.30pm (term time only)

Purpose of the role:

Core Arts is a leading creative education arts college for adults suffering mild to severe mental health issues.

The Sports Department are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Table Tennis Coach with experience working in an adult community setting, to join our tutor team on Fridays.

You will be responsible for delivering sessions at our Centre in Homerton, Hackney.

Responsibilities & Job Summary:

  • The planning and delivery of creative, active, and engaging sessions for adults with mental health. This includes, singles, doubles, and improving skill set and knowledge in table tennis.
  • To develop positive relationships with all members and the entire Core Sport team including providing instruction to and work alongside session volunteers.
  • Must be available to work Friday afternoons 2.30pm-5pm.
  • To support at a variety of events throughout the year including tournaments in-house and with outside organisations.
  • Support the administration elements of the programme including data collection of attendance and progression.
  • Support the creation of case studies/good news stories to measure the impact of the programme.
  • Help grow the programme by being proactive and inviting players of the required ability to join sessions, as well as work towards members goals and creative work plans.
  • To attend regular meetings and training for continuous professional development – e.g. in-house safe guarding training, risk assessments, first aid etc.
  • Work flexibly to ensure full and supportive delivery of the programme.
  • Commit to ongoing self-directed learning to further develop work-related skills and knowledge.

Knowledge/Qualifications

  • Possess a level 2 NGB Table Tennis coaching qualification and First Aid certificate (E)
  • Ability to empathise with and give support to participants who may not feel comfortable in learning or sports-related environments, ensuring we offer inclusivity in all aspects of the sessions and ensure all members feel included and are working towards their outline goals in a holistic approach (E)
  • Sound sports development knowledge and experience with a proven track record of achievement (E)
  • Experience working with adults with previous experience working with those with a severe and enduring mental health need. (D)
  • Current DBS certificate (D)
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment, to ensure that the session has an emphasis of community and social inclusivity (E)
  • Experience in working with a variety of participants with wide-ranging abilities (E)
