“The Wardle Street Project”
As part of the “Grow Back Greener” fund from the Mayor of London, to help make London greener, fairer, and healthier and address the climate and ecological emergencies we are facing, Core Landscapes students and volunteers have greened up Wardle Street that runs below Core Landscapes roof garden.
With 7 tree pits and additional street planters, a 60m long meadow strip and a community orchard in Homerton Grove. The new planting increases bio-diversity, collects and diverts rainfall, increases canopy cover, utilises solar powered irrigation systems and makes the street a lot nicer for people to walk down.
See how we did it here…
“I feel more useful to the community around me and useful to the natural environment. The sessions have helped me feel more connected to the rest of society. I feel less isolated just realising these are problems we all share.”
