Film: BABYLON
Director: Franco Rosso / Year: 1980 /
Starring: Brinsley Forde, Karl Howman and Trevor Laird
Genres: Drama / Country of Origin: UK / Language: English
Synopsis: Babylon is a raw and incendiary film employing an effective mix of music and social commentary to recount the everyday experiences of a small group of working class black youths living in South London in the early 1980s.
This film has everything, romance, violence, drama, tension, friendship, music, laughter. But it also tackles plenty of issues relevant today -- the relationship between ascetic religious principle and sound business expediency, conflict with the authorities, racism and homophobia, and of course, the unadulterated joy of the sound system at full blast. |

Film: AUDITION
Director: Miike Takashi / Rating: R / Year:1999 /
Genres: Drama, Thriller, Horror, Mystery
Country of Origin: South Korea / Japan
Language: Japanese
One of the most infamous and audacious films in prolific Japanese splattermeister Takashi Miike ’s catalog, Audition presents a sticky catch-22 situation: The best way to see it would be to stumble absentmindedly into a theatre with no preconceptions or even information about the film. On the other hand, only the most adventurous moviegoers would be grateful for the lack of warning.

Out of Rosenheim (Bagdad Café) is a look into the minds and lives of some people most of us have met but few of us know much about.
