COURSE OUTLINE
Group sessions, lasting 3 hours, led by a range of musicians.
These workshops offer learners the opportunity to develop the following:
• Improvisation skills
• Practice in reading music
• Microphone technique
• Harmony, lead or backing instrumentation
• Working as a team
• Orchestration and music management
• How to direct a group
• Communication and listening skills
• Confidence
• Recording
• Live performance
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
Educational: to learn about how music is created and played in a
group setting.
Technical: to develop instrumental/vocal skills; using amplified and electrical equipment safely.
Artistic: to create original music in a range of styles; to prepare music for a performance.
Social: to learn how to work together in a group, taking a variety of roles.
SESSION OUTLINE
Process: Each workshop lasts for 3 hours. Learners are encouraged to bring their own ideas/music along, but are also expected to be flexible and respond to the other members of the group.
OUTCOMES
• Development of musicianship skills
• Social skills developed
• Confidence in creating and playing music
• Creative thinking skills enhanced
• Performance in Core Arts gigs
