COURSE OUTLINE
With the support of a studio technician and other musicians, learners have the opportunity to book studio time to develop their individual personal projects.
These sessions offer the opportunity to develop the following:
• Basic sound, recording and studio techniques
• Music production
• Orchestration, song structure, music arrangement
• Freedom to experiment
• With technical & musical support & advice, push musical ideas forward
• Patience and commitment in refining an original idea to completion
• Collaborative working practice
• Confidence
• Build a bank of individual, recorded work
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
Educational: to learn about the recording process, and how to create a successful recording
Technical: to learn skills in recording, editing, mixing
Social/personal: to develop confidence in own music abilities; to develop critical listening skills; to develop skills working with others in a musical process
Artistic: to create high-quality recordings
SESSION OUTLINE
Working alongside the tutor/engineer, learners will create a plan of action in order to produce one recording or several.
This will include recording individual parts, editing and mixing. Learners will develop skills in reviewing and evaluating their own work.
SOME PROGRESSION ROUTES
• Recording an EP/album at Core Arts
• Producing a ‘demo’ CD for further recording/performance opportunities outside of Core Arts
• Further study at another provider: recording/sound engineering
