Poetry and Creative Writing

COURSE OUTLINE
A mixed-ability group workshop, involving:
• topic introduction and illustration
• group discussion
• creation of written work
• presentations
• evaluation

The sessions are flexible to allow individuality of style and of content.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES
Educational
Introduction to a range of writers, literary styles and genres; creating written work in a variety of formats.

Social/personal
Opportunities to develop concentration, listening skills, focussed discussion skills, confidence and presentation skills; Group support and opportunities for members to steer the group.

Artistic
Expression through the written word; de-mystifying the notion of poetry as a ‘high art’.
