SESSION OUTLINE
Process: Demonstration – explanation – practical
music-making – discussion – creating a piece – trying new ideas – final
playing – evaluation.
Each session begins with an overview and explanation of the main idea,
e.g. a particular scale. It focuses on practical elements – for example,
being able to play the scale on chosen instrument/s.
Each session involves the group working together to create a piece – most
often at least one original piece, and often also a pre-existing piece.
Members are encouraged to explore music through playing, listening and
asking questions. They are also given the opportunity to evaluate
their own learning and progress at regular intervals.
