Ben is a self taught artist who works through the Hackney based organisation Core Arts.
He has a degree in social anthropology (like philosophy with people in it) but rediscovered painting 2 years ago and hasn’t looked back since. He works across a variety of mediums from oil on canvass to inks and prints.
Ben is interested in painting portraits which explore the strange in the familiar and the familiar in the strange. His recent work challenges conventional ideals of worth and beauty, strength and vulnerability, by paying tribute to those who are often marginalised by society.
He is currently painting members of Core Arts, a creative hub for artists who have or have had severe and enduring mental health issues. Please take a look at the news section for more information about ‘Under the Skin’, the exhibition which showcases this work.
I’m always interested in new projects, collaborations, commissions and sales, so if you’re interested in finding out more or would like to commission me please get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.
